Thoughts on ai

Just like most, I hold the opinion that AI makes lives easier, how could you not think that way, with just a click of a button life could get a lot less complicated, Do you need help with homework? Need a quick laugh? Are you lonely and just need somebody to talk to, do you need a fresh new logo, or maybe you just want to learn something new? Don’t you worry ai has your back, your new best friend, ai cannot leave you. Why would you ever need anything else? I mean if ai can do my homework, why go to class? and since AI can make me laugh what’s the point of getting out of your comfort zone to meet people, chat GPT can do it. why would I ever learn to draw if a computer algorithm could just do it for me, whats the point of going through all the trouble of finding an artist just to design a silly little logo, ai can do it. What’s the point? What is the point of teachers and artists and friends when ai can do it all.

yes, AI is useful. it’s so useful but when does AI become more useful than humans?

to be human is to improve, and make life easier for ourselves, if it is helpful who cares about the repercussions, I mean look at the success of the iPhone? look at how much easier all of our lives are now, aren’t we collectively smarter and happier than before, right? right?

I feel like you can answer for yourself that the iPhone didn’t solve all of our problems. depression rates have gone up 13% since the invention of the mobile phone, not to mention the rise of propaganda and false information in the media. life is just as complicated as before the iPhone, arguably more.

above I tested AI image generation and tried some very basic but very human prompts, the scary thing as an artist is that I probably wouldn’t have made something much different from what was generated, are you seeing my point? how easily something that took humans generations and has dedicated whole lives can be so easily replaced and obsolete.

unfortunately, at the current pace, it won’t be long now before artists will die out then how long until it is teachers, doctors, or scientists?

then next thing you know it will be humans that are obsolete

but AI is your friend, right?

I am not going to be naive and say that AI isn’t a brilliant invention that will and has saved hundreds and thousands of lives and done a lot of good for a lot of people

but at the cost of what?

our humanity?

I mean truthfully when you get to the bottom of it, what else does it mean to be human other than to learn, laugh, love, and create with your fellow humans. yeah sometimes, forgive my language it is a pain in the ass to do your homework, and building connections with people can at times feel like an impossible task. But look at your life and think about where you would be if you never did anything hard, spoiler alert you would be insufferable, and everyone would be, all of the time. We struggle because it makes us who we are, struggle isn’t just a part of life, it is life. what else is life than to crawl through the trenches and come out the other side dirty and scratched, just to say that you did it. you. did. it. all on your own and the sheer joy and comradery that comes with sharing that with others, why rob yourself of that?

It may seem like a drab outlook to just accept that struggle is just a part of life and I understand the want to take that away. How could you not, that’s just human. something a robot couldn’t possibley understand, for now.

but what do I know I am just a silly human.
